1. Introduction
DermaCreator is an in-game user-interface builder for Garry's Mod, together with the licensing portal that manages access to it. We really care about protecting your privacy, and we believe you should always know what information we hold and why. This policy explains, in clear terms, what we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have.
In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" refer to the team behind DermaCreator, which operates this portal and the DermaCreator addon. "You" refers to anyone who visits the portal or uses DermaCreator. We are committed to handling your data in line with applicable data protection law, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
2. What does this policy cover?
This policy covers the personal data we process through the DermaCreator portal and the licensing and security services behind it. It does not cover the practices of third-party platforms we rely on, such as Steam, Discord, our payment provider, or GModStore, each of which has its own privacy policy that applies when you use their services.
3. What information do we collect, and why?
We only collect what we genuinely need. The information we hold depends on how you interact with DermaCreator.
If you are a visitor (browsing the portal without signing in), we process a small amount of technical information, such as your IP address and standard request details recorded in our server logs. We use this to keep the portal available, secure, and working correctly.
If you are a user (you sign in, hold a license, or run the addon), we may also process:
- Your Steam identity. When you sign in with Steam we receive your Steam ID, which we use to recognize you and link your license to your account. We also display your Steam name and avatar in the portal so you can confirm you are signed in correctly.
- Your license. The license and access key associated with your account, and the game server on which it is activated, so we can deliver and manage your access.
- Your purchase. If you buy through the portal, we keep a record of the transaction (such as amount, currency, and status) to confirm your purchase and support you. Payments are processed by our payment provider, so we never receive or store your card details.
- Your Discord account, if you link it. Linking Discord is optional. If you choose to, we store your Discord account details so we can connect it to your license and assign your customer role. You can unlink at any time.
- Technical and security information. We process information such as IP addresses connected to the use of DermaCreator, which we need to run the service, keep it secure, and protect it against misuse and unauthorized copies.
4. How and why we use the information
We use your information to:
- authenticate you and manage your account;
- deliver your license and confirm your access to what you purchased;
- provide customer support and respond to your requests;
- operate, maintain, and secure the service, and protect it against fraud, abuse, and piracy;
- and link your Discord account, where you have chosen to do so.
Our legal grounds for this are: performing the contract we have with you (providing the software and license you signed up for); our legitimate interests in keeping DermaCreator secure and fairly licensed; your consent, where you choose to link Discord; and compliance with our legal obligations, such as keeping certain transaction records.
5. Sharing information
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it except as needed to run the service. We share the minimum necessary information with the trusted providers that make DermaCreator work:
- Steam (Valve), to sign you in and to show your Steam name and avatar;
- our payment provider and GModStore, to process and verify purchases;
- Discord, only if you choose to link your account;
- our hosting provider, which runs the servers hosting the portal.
We may also disclose information where we are legally required to do so, or where it is necessary to protect our rights and enforce our licensing.
6. How long do we keep your information?
We keep your information for as long as your account and license are active, and for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, for example to support you, to keep the service secure, or to meet a legal requirement. When we no longer need it, we delete it or reduce it to a form that no longer identifies you.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have rights over your personal data, including the right to access it, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, and receive a copy of it. Where we rely on your consent (for Discord linking), you can withdraw it at any time by unlinking.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us through our Discord support server. Contacting us from the Steam or Discord account concerned helps us confirm the request is genuinely yours. Please be aware that we may need to keep certain information where the law requires it, or where it is essential to protect DermaCreator against abuse. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
